WELCOME TO THE

Nursing Workforce Information Center

In 2013, the Utah legislature expanded UMEC health care workforce research responsibilities to include nursing.  In association with its enlarged legislative mandate, the UMEC has accepted the designation as the Nursing Workforce Information Center, has become an active member of the Utah Action Coalition for Health (UACH), has developed an online RN workforce survey and has conducted in-depth surveys to support national efforts by the NCSBN and the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers to gather minimum data sets in supply, demand and education for nursing in the U.S.

  • NURSE SUPPLY

The UMEC gathers data on the supply of nurses in the state of Utah. This data includes information on demographics, license/ certification, and employment.

  • NURSE DEMAND

The UMEC gathers data on the demand for nurses in the state of Utah. The purpose of this effort is to collect demand data at a certain point in time on a regular basis as a snapshot of current conditions rather than as a way to project future demand.

  • NURSE EDUCATION

The UMEC gathers data on the education of nurses in the state of Utah.
